Overview

I led the development of C-Dragon, a fully automated surveillance mission drone designed to conduct a precise 10 km flight, perform dual-location mapping, and deploy a payload. In my roles as Electrician and Geospatial Mapping Specialist:

  • Handled all electrical systems, including power distribution, motor controllers, and onboard sensors, and ensured reliability for autonomous flights.

  • Implemented mission-critical interfaces using Mission Planner, establishing Wi-Fi monitoring for telemetry and remote control.

  • Designed and executed a geospatial mapping pipeline, where aerial imagery from mission waypoints was processed and stitched into coherent maps using image alignment and GIS tools.

Inspired by hybrid surveillance systems leveraging embedded microcontrollers and drone autonomy, C‑Dragon demonstrated that low-cost components can be orchestrated into a capable mission platform.

Open Source platform with Mission Planner and Orange Cube & Telemetry
Low-latency communication over distances and supported MAVLink-compatible telemetry, essential for navigating the 10 km mission.

  • Reliable Power & Electronics Integration
Crafting a robust electrical backbone ensured consistent energy delivery to propulsion, avionics, and payload-release mechanisms, critical for autonomous mission success.

  • Efficient Mission Execution
The drone completed its mission autonomously, accurately releasing payloads at two mapped waypoints, showcasing reliable GPS waypoint traversal and servo-based payload deployment.

  • High-Quality Geospatial Mapping
Post-flight, I processed captured imagery into stitched orthomosaics with <10 cm/pixel resolution, sufficient for detailed reconnaissance and terrain analysis.

  • Modular, Scalable Architecture
The drone’s design allows mission profile adaptability; the same electrical and mapping setup can support longer flights, different payloads, or AI-based onboard object detection using Image Processing OpenCV
